1 Introduction

This document presents the design and implementation of mapping discovery as part of the ontology management environment. The study of requirements deliverable d7.4 as well as the state of the art it presents leads us to use an existing tool namely FOAM. The present document briefly presents FOAM and give the necessary references to this project.

2 FOAM

FOAM stands for Framework for Ontology Alignment and Mapping. It consists in a framework and an implementation by Marc Ehrig at the university of Karlsruhe. It uses heuristics on the ontological entities to find similarities and deduce an alignment between two given ontologies.

3 Implementation

FOAM needs to be adapted to work on WSML ontologies. We are currently working on its adaptation.
