Abstract

This is the overview document for all tools and accompanying documents that have been developed in course of WP 2 "Ontology Management" in the DIP project for the final release in June 2006. It provides links to the respective fact sheets (download, installation, and licensing information) as well as user guides and accompanying documents.

1. Introduction and Overview

The DIP Ontology Management Suite (OMS) develops an integrated set of tools for efficient and effective development and maintenance of ontologies.

Integrated with the DIP architecture, the OMS has the following features in order to provide sophisticated ontology management support for the DIP project as well as for the Semantic Web in general:

• the Web Service Modeling Language WSML as the ontology language used in DIP
• based on WSMO4J and ORDI to allow interoperability and integration with other DIP / WSMO tools
• usage of Eclipse as technical platform for smooth integration
• repository-based ontology management for stability and scalability
• incorporation of 3 tools for advanced ontology management:
  1. integrated versioning for evolution support of ontologies
  2. a mapping editor for handling heterogeneous ontologies
  3. a reporting tool for community-driven ontology management.

Figure 1 shows the overall architectures of the OMS and the allocation of respective deliverables in DIP WP 2.
